Who we are

RetroAdventureWorld (www.retroadventureworld.com) is a small website with free point-and-click games, made by Eric Waterschoot. He is responsible for the processing of the data described below.

What we keep on your own device

To make the games work we keep a few things in your own browser's storage (localStorage): your language, your progress in a game and your cookie choice. This stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can clear it by deleting the site data in your browser.

Statistics (Google Analytics), only with consent

If you tap "Yes, OK", we load Google Analytics 4 from Google Ireland Ltd. It shows us anonymously which pages and games are visited, on what kind of device, and roughly from which country. In the games we also count when a game is started, which step of the story is reached, when the hint button is used and when a game is finished. That shows us where players get stuck, so we know which puzzles to improve. None of this is linked to a name or an account.

Account (optional, Whispers of Ravenholt only)

In Whispers of Ravenholt you can choose a free account so your progress continues on another device. We then store your email address, an encrypted password and your game progress with our database provider Supabase. We only use your email address to sign you in and send no newsletters or adverts.

Children under 16 should preferably create an account together with a parent. An account is never needed to play.

Hosting

The website runs on Vercel. Like any web server, Vercel processes technical data such as your IP address to show the pages and keep the site secure. Fonts and images come from our own server; no other external services are loaded.

Your rights

You may see, correct or delete your data, and you can object. You can also have your account deleted. A contact form for privacy questions will be added to this page soon. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can complain to your data protection authority (in the Netherlands: the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
